Weese (Marie) Wagner owns and operates Yoga U. She started doing yoga as a teenager in the 70’s. Her varied background in the study of yoga formed her vision for Yoga U (Yoga Universe). To provide a warm, welcoming, place where people could come to experience the many types, benefits and joys of yoga. The teachers at Yoga U have a wonderful variety of training and skills and are each encouraged to teach according to their own unique style and talents. ”
A devotee of physical activity her entire life - Weese has worked in the fitness industry for 30 years teaching a variety of fitness classes. An avid runner in her teens, she came across a book in the library that showed various yoga postures and she thought it would be a great way to help keep her muscles flexible. From that point on she did her best to continue to learn about yoga from books and attend any type of yoga class she could find. In the early 90's she found a small studio that specialized in ashtanga yoga and immediately knew it was something she had to study in depth to be able to teach. This led to traveling to attend workshops with various ashtanga masters including Doug and David Swenson and Manju Jois. In the mid 90’s she began classes in the Baptiste Power Vinyasa yoga style. This led to attending many workshops and teacher trainings with Baron Baptiste.
Over a few years she attended teacher trainings with several World Master Teachers. She has completed teacher trainings with Baron Baptiste, Beryl Bender Birch, Rodney Yee and Shiva Rae. Additional trainings include studying at the Himalayan Institute in Honesdale, PA and attending trainings from large fitness industry trainers.
Her original vision has taken form at the studio in various ways. “My classes are never exactly the same. In each and every class, I do my best to incorporate elements of other styles into a strong vinyasa class to keep it fun and interesting. Yoga U offers strong vinyasa classes, yoga flow, restorative yoga, meditation and is the only studio in the area to offer Yin Yoga.

Kate DuPont: Kate started practicing yoga in 2000. She is an avid runner and mountain biker and yoga was the perfect compliment . Although her reason for starting her practice was physical, she quickly felt a sense of peace , inner calm and balance after practicing. Kate started teaching yoga in 2004 upon completion of a 200 hour Teacher Training Program through Cindy Lee’s Om Yoga Center. She has taken weekend workshops with Beryl Bender Birch, Tim Miller and Brian Kest and attended workshops with Johnny Kest, Baron Baptiste, Rod Stryker, David Life and Shiva Rea. She continues to study with other teachers and shares what she has learned with other yoga students. She is constantly reminded and humbled by the fact that there is no “finish line” in yoga. We are all beginners. There is always more to learn and we are so fortunate there are so many masters who generously pass on the beautiful teachings of yoga. Kate teaches a Vinyasa flow class focusing on moving the body with the breath. Using heat and breath the body opens and moves deeper into each asana as the class progresses. One of her intentions when teaching is that students leave class feeling invigorated, balanced and a sense of inner calm.

Erin Harrington: Erin has been teaching yoga since 2000. Her classes are breath inspired journeys that explore waves of sequences from the challenging and empowering to the meditative and rejuvenating. Our lives are often formed around strong structures which have the potential to leave or bodies and our minds rigid. Erin’s classes explore the dance between structure and fluidity bringing balance and freedom to both inner and outer being.
Erin grew up in a household filled with yoga. Her mother had a regular meditative practice and her father complimented his marathon running with a more physical practice. It wasn’t until bilateral Achilles tendon rupture that Erin came to yoga on her own. The injury and recovery proved to be a challenging time, both mentally and physically. Through this hardship the bright light of yoga was lit and continues to burn bright. Erin studies with Beryl Bender Birch, Cyndi Lee and Shiva Rea whenever possible. She and her husband David keep busy with 3 wonderful and growing children.

Gail Pineault started her yoga journey when she took a session at age 18. She bought a book and continued at various times practicing from the book whenever she could. She started a continual, committed practice about 10 years ago when she moved to DE.
She originally received a basic certification and began teaching. She followed her original certification with a 200 Hour Teacher Training Certification from Cyndi Lee’s OM Yoga Center. She then found Yoga U and loved the vision of a studio offering a variety of yoga style classes and enjoyed adding some “heat” to her practice. She has participated in many workshops with world-renowned master teachers Julie Gudmestad, Judith Lasater , Rodney Yee and Barbara Benagh during Yoga Journal Conferences. She has continued to expand her knowledge through workshops with Doug Keller of Anusara Yoga, and recently Lilias Folan, balancing workshop with Frank Mauro from OM Yoga, and others. But her biggest teachers have been the students in all the many classes she has taught over the last seven years. When she is on the mat, Gail says her mind is practicing to clear, her body to move, and her whole life in general feels easier to handle. She hopes to impart and share that freedom and joy with you.

Meditation with Keren:
Keren Portia has facilitated meditation groups for over thirteen years. The ability to quiet and focus the mind is one of our greatest assets, and Keren believes that everyone can benefit from the practice of meditation. Keren’s meditation style offers a unique blend of her diverse experiences and includes the powerful teachings on the law of attraction: what you focus on expands. Keren believes that establishing a daily practice of meditation can be a powerful foundation for creating what we truly desire in our lives. Keren’s introduction to meditation came from the Buddhist book A Path With Heart by Jack Kornfield, which she discovered when her children were young and she was looking for a way to relieve stress. Her experiences in spirituality up until that point had been mostly prayer-based, and she became completely fascinated by the idea of quieting the mind and “receiving.” From that time on, meditation became an integral part of Keren’s life. Keren’s background in meditation, as well as philosophy and religion, is widely diverse. The Omega Institute in Rhinebeck, New York has been Keren’s second home for the past seven years. She has meditated with many Buddhist teachers including Nawang Khechog and Gen Nordon. She has participated in kirtan, the devotional chanting of mantras, with Krishna Das, Jai Uttal, Robert Gass, and Wah! Keren has also practiced meditation with inspirational authors John Perkins, Ted Andrews, Elizabeth Harper, and Shulamit Elson. Known as an inspirational writer, Keren’s popular column Are You Feeling It? appears monthly in Living Well Magazine and on www.myspace.com/kerenportia or you can contact Keren at 302.530.5143. In addition to writing and meditation, Keren lectures on the law of attraction and offers private healing/counseling sessions. Keren is also passionate about yoga, nature, Montessori education, and single parenting her two teenage sons.
